Samurai Armour

Kosode Itsutsuginu
This five layered kimono was worn as daily wear by the women of the samurai class.

This long sleeved kimono and lacquered hat were the daily wear of the samurai in the Kamakura period (1185–1333). During the Edo period (1603-1868) hitatare were elevated to being formal wear.
